Skins worst enemy is at the forefront of Dermalogica technology

Skins worst enemy is at the forefront of Dermalogica technology

Meeting with Kelly Salter Dermalogica's Public Relations and Consumer Marketing Co-ordinator  at the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo  is one of best ways to embrace this brand from a local and global view. Kelly's passion is so infectious and even though she is Dermalogica Australia, she speaks Dermalogica global always looking for ways to support the corporate directive,  a directive that is the DNA of Jane Wurward Dermalogica's founder. So we talk about  Dermalogica’s ongoing leadership in the sun protection category of skin care with the brand’s announcement of new formulations and upgrades. These have resulted in new Oleosome Technology that combines with UV Smart Booster Technology to make UV protection products more effective, longer lasting, and more comfortable for the wearer.

Annet King, Director of Global Education for Dermalogica and The International Dermal Institute stated, “We feel that it is the mission of skin care professionals to provide accurate, reliable information to consumers about protecting their skin from the risks of UV, which include skin cancer. That’s why we created our Daylight Defense products for sun protection, which we tell our customers they need to use 365 days a year, not just when they are at the beach or spending time outdoors. It’s also why we created micro-encapsulation technology, which is photo-activated, or triggered by exposure to sunlight. Even sitting in your car in direct sun, day after day, year after year, can result in hyperpigmentation and other signs of visible aging to the face, neck and hands, introducing the risk of skin cancer through constant exposure.”
To ensure the highest level of protection and maintain the elegant skin care feel of its sun protection formulas, Dermalogica uses two sophisticated technologies to boost product performance; UV Smart Booster Technology  For enhanced photoprotection against harmful UV rays and free radicals, Dermalogica has incorporated antioxidants into formulas via a revolutionary UV Smart Booster Technology. Encapsulating essential antioxidants vitamins C and E into a microcapsule that activates only when needed. The benefit is that these vitamins are slowly released when exposed to UV rays, delivering enhanced photoprotection when it is needed most.

The second technology Oleosome Technology is one that encourages greater ease of daily use. Oleosomes are naturally-occurring spheres of emollient oils and Vitamin E found in Safflower Seeds. These unique molecules can deliver active ingredients such as sunscreens, directly to the skin surface, and release them over time to ensure the maximum skin benefits. These qualities are especially relevant when formulating with chemical sunscreens because they allow for a higher SPF rating while using fewer sunscreen agents, lessening the chance of sensitivity and providing an elegant feel and wearability, a very important aspect for sensitive skins who have problems using sunscreen.

Dermalogica’s new Oil Free Matte SPF30, with Oleosome Technology, can deliver much more UV protection without unwanted oiliness or chalkiness while improving customer satisfaction. For an easier prescription by skin care professionals for consumers, four Dermalogica reformulated products have been transitioned from the Daily Defense System, packaged in solar orange, to the Dermalogica categories which are more appropriate to their usage. Newly upgraded Oil Free Matte SPF30, with an upgrade from SPF20, is now packaged as part of the mediBac clearing® system (lime-green packaging), since this product is specifically formulated to control the four main factors which contribute to adult acne.

My personal favorite is the  Ultra Sensitive Tint SPF30 and Super Sensitive Shield SPF, the Tint has the texture of a makeup, this is not one of those thin drippy tints I have used before with other brands, there is a coverage here, its the best I really enjoy this product and it has to be a must after you moisturize, and always keep one for travel. Both products are now packaged as part of the UltraCalmingTM system (purple packaging), which contain the UltraCalmingâ„¢ Complex to help reduce sensitivity, redness, irritation and inflammation.

Suggested retail prices: Oil Free Matte SPF30 50ml - $68.50,  Ultra Sensitive Tint SPF30 50ml - $57.00,  Super Sensitive Shield SPF30 50ml - $68.50. Due to launch here in Australia in August 2012.
